During the Snap Partner Summit organized on Thursday, the firm with the little ghost presented Pixy, a funny flying yellow square in the shape of a miniature drone. With its four propellers, it can rise in front of you and follow you to take pictures and film you.

A flying paparazzi
It might have sounded like a joke, but it’s not. Pixy is already available in France, and he uses the codes of Snapchat with his bright yellow and his talents in photography. Because Snap has decided to rely on the know-how of the camera of its application to allow you to immortalize your important moments, alone or with friends. All while offering you a new perspective and gaining height. Because with the Shows, it was your point of view in the spotlight. You will be the star there.
This “flying camera”, like the present Snap, fits in your pocket and will rise on demand. Just tap a button and its four rotaries will turn on and Pixy will take off following four pre-recorded flight types: in orbit mode for a 360° view, in hover mode in front of you, following you where you go, or just without control to record around you (revelation mode). And Pixy promises to land in your outstretched hand at the end of her flight. Because it is your gestures that will tell it what to do, there is no remote control available.
Videos are transferred and saved automatically in Snapchat Memories. You can then edit them, add Lenses or music (videos have no sound). Quick add-ons like Hyperspeed, Rebound, Orbit 3D, etc. are yours. You then just have to share them on Snapchat in chat, in stories, on Spotlight or elsewhere on other platforms.
Be careful, Pixy is not resistant to rain or wind, even a light breeze. Extend your arm in front of you at eye level, Pixy on the palm, and it will take off based on the height of your head. It tracks your head and body location to head and back. The white camera LED will flash to start recording.
Price and availability of the Pixy
Initially, Pixy is available in the United States and France while supplies last at a price of 274.99 euros on the Snapchat site or on the dedicated Pixy site. Additional accessories are offered (rechargeable battery, charger, bumper, carrying strap, etc.).
