Faced with the urgency of the situation, the highest level of the State is mobilizing. Starting with the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron. In a speech in Savines-le-Lac (Hautes-Alpes) this Thursday, the Head of State detailed a whole water plan to preserve resources and at best counter the episodes of drought that specialists predict for this summer. Especially since this beginning of the year 2023 was marked by a fairly marked absence of precipitation: February was also a historically dry month.
Emmanuel Macron therefore wants to mobilize 180 million euros per year to absorb “emergency” water leaks in France in the most sensitive points. Securing work will first be carried out in 2,000 municipalities which found themselves close to a situation of disruption of drinking water supply last summer.
