Planed apprenticeship budget: what political impact for this budget cut?

The start of the school year is looming, against a backdrop of concerns in the CFAs, the apprentice training centers. In question, the budget devoted to them will be reduced by 10% by next April. Objective for the government: to save 800 million euros, while the number of apprenticeship contracts explodes. Last year, there were more than 700,000 apprentices, compared to 300,000 in 2018. A stroke of the plane that is controversial, especially as the executive tightens the purse strings, but keeps the same ambitions. According to information from the political service of Europe 1, there is no question for the government of going back on the reduction in credits allocated to trainers, or even of modifying its calendar.

According to a close executive, learning is actually a victim of its own success, and it is impossible to finance it in the long term with the current system. A system that would have allowed some schools to increase the cost of their training.

9% increase in apprenticeship entries in 2022

However, the tightening of screws is not in contradiction with the objective of reaching one million apprentices by the end of the five-year term, specifies an adviser. This is information that we are revealing to you this morning. The forecasts are good. The government expects a 9% increase in apprenticeship entries in 2022 compared to 2021.

To continue the momentum, the executive has notably decided to maintain, at least until the end of the year, the bonuses for hiring apprentices granted to companies. Other measures would be under study and should be discussed, in particular within the framework of the National Council for Refoundation.

Finally, through its future reform of the vocational high school, the government intends to promote synergies between this school path and the world of learning, so that the two are more complementary.
