Plastic Omnium completes the acquisition of the automotive lighting business of the Osram group

( — Plastic Omnium confirmed the finalization of the acquisition of 100% of AMLS (Automotive Lighting Systems), automotive lighting activity of the German group Osram. The amount of the transaction, fully paid out of equity, is 65 million euros. AMLS will be consolidated in Plastic Omnium’s accounts from July 1, 2022. AMLS generated sales of 148 million in 2021 and employs 770 people, including 120 in research and development, spread over five sites in Europe, in the United States and China.

AMLS provides a portfolio of high-tech products: front and interior lighting, advanced projection solutions, body lighting. With this first acquisition, Plastic Omnium deploys its development strategy on the growing lighting market and creates a Lighting division which will also house the activity of Varroc Lighting Systems whose acquisition, announced on April 29, could be finalized. during the fourth quarter of 20221.

In this way, Plastic Omnium announces that it will be present throughout the lighting value chain with a wide range of products, from components to complete headlights.

As announced during the Capital Markets Day last May, the Plastic Omnium Lighting activity will represent 1 billion euros in pro-forma economic turnover in 2021, 11 factories around the world and 7,000 employees. The objective of this future activity is to reach 1.5 billion euros in economic revenue by 2027. The newly created division will be managed by Pierre-Henri Desportes, appointed Chief Executive Officer of Plastic Omnium Lighting. He joined Plastic Omnium in 2017 as industrial director of the Intelligent Exterior Systems division before heading the division’s European activity. He will report to Laurent Favre, Group CEO, and will be a member of the Management Committee.
