Plays in Finland – volleyball player Deisl is only a fan after injury

Victoria Deisl was seriously injured and will be out for the rest of the season. However, flying back to Austria is out of the question for her; she supports her teammates in Finland.

Victoria Deisl is currently going through a tough time in her new home of Finland. In the European Cup game of her team Hämeenlinnan Lentopallokerho (small town near Helsinki) against Galatasaray Istanbul, the volleyball legionnaire tore her cruciate ligament, medial ligament and meniscus. “I landed with my leg stretched out and my knee pushed it backwards,” says the 24-year-old about her first serious injury, which also resulted in her kneecap flying out. Surgery and rehab in Finland “It didn’t hurt that badly, but It quickly became clear that a lot of things were broken.” She will have an operation on Friday and the Seekirchner will complete the subsequent rehabilitation at her club. “I expect six to nine months of downtime, I’ll stay in Finland until the end of the season,” she wants to continue to cheer on her colleagues. “I’m their biggest fan, I’ll always be cheering loudly on the bench.” Deisl’s team got off to a good start to the season and is holding up after seven games with five wins.
