On X.com (formerly Twitter), user @phantompainss recently published a series of photos revealing, for the very first time, the design of the new PS5 compared to the model released three years earlier. Although the Internet user ultimately deleted the photos from the platform, fortunately they were able to be saved.

Unsurprisingly, this new version of the PS5 promises to be considerably less bulky than its big sister. Also lower than the 2020 model, it has significantly finer curves, which will undoubtedly allow it to be more camouflaged in your living room.

As a reminder, Sony has already revealed that the total volume had been reduced by 30%, and that its weight had been reduced by 18 to 24% (depending on the model).

So, will it require an internet connection to pair the removable disk drive?

As reported by the teams of The Verge, one of the photos posted by phantompainss seemed to confirm that an internet connection would be required to connect the Blu-Ray player. When first plugged in, a notification tells the user to connect to the internet to pair the disk drive.

Here is more precisely what the notification in question stated: “ Unable to use your disk drive. You need to connect your PS5 to the network to register your disc drive to your PS5 “.
