The EVO, the unmissable meeting of versus fighting, took place last weekend, from August 5th to 7th. The tournament, although open to all platforms, was acquired in March 2021 by PlayStation. The EVO is therefore part of the big Sony family, and obviously represents an opportunity for the company to do some… research.
PlayStation interested in NFTs?
At the launch of the EVO, some users who participated in a PlayStation event answered a survey concerning their feelings towards the brand. One of the questions was shared on Twitter by a user by the name of @snorlaxownzwho noticed the particularity of the question… relating to NFTs.
The poll appeared shortly after the announcement of PlayStation Stars, a reward program for loyal players. Sony had emphasized that the new PlayStation feature would not be NFTs, following the suspicions of many gamers. However, it would seem that for its future projects, the company may consider the much criticized use of this element of the blockchain.
Survey or future projects in progress?
Of course, respondents were somewhat confused about the real nature of this question. Would Sony like to take the temperature with its community?
Among the survey was therefore this particular question, entitled: “What do you collect the most?”followed by a title “Which of these NFTs/collectibles would you most like to buy?”. The possible answers were:
- EVO objects
- Your favorite musical artists
- Your favorite esports players/teams
- PlayStation items
- Your favorite video game characters
On the PlayStation side, nothing has been confirmed yet, and this survey in no way confirms the fact that NFTs will be present in the company’s future productions.
It is possible that Sony simply wants to learn about the impressions of its community vis-à-vis this system. In all cases, it will be necessary to wait some time before having the clear heart, and to know if the NFTs will be part of the future of PlayStation… or not!
