PlayStation: Herman Hulst talks about the merger with From Software and potential adaptations

Not long ago, Tencent and sony strengthened their ties with the studio FromSoftware by taking a few shares in the company. Sony now owns 14.09% of the studio’s shares, which suggests that the manufacturer is very interested in From Software’s licenses and the profits they can make. If this does not mean that the studio will start to only produce games on PlayStation, the strengthening of this collaboration could be used in other areas at PlayStation.

Elden Ring soon to be adapted into a film or a series?

Reuters was able to speak briefly with Herman Hulstwho is at the head of PlayStation Studios, to get his opinion on the merger between Sony and From Software.

Hulst obviously does not exclude the possibility that this stronger agreement leads to very specific gamesbut it also seems to emphasize the fact that From Software’s licenses could be used by PlayStation Productions for adaptations :

You should think first and foremost about collaborations on the game development side, but it’s also not out of the question that with our efforts at PlayStation Productions we’re exploring opportunities. ยป

In short, Sony’s investment also has the potential goal of expanding its catalog of adaptations on the small and large screen. With the success ofElden Ringwe can imagine without difficulty that PlayStation Productions sees there all the potential of the license for a series or a film (even if between us, pity, not).

This interview is also an opportunity for Hulst to specify that Sony is looking to make new acquisitions to strengthen its mobile and PC poles. Suffice to say that the redemption season is not over.
