Hello again everyone! In May, we revealed that our voxel destruction game would be released on PlayStation 5. Today, I am very happy to share excellent news with you: Teardown will arrive on console on November 15, 2023… and it’s not All ! It’s a huge privilege to announce that the game will also join the PlayStation Plus Games Catalog on release day. We’re also taking this opportunity to reveal a new series of missions, maps, vehicles and other content planned for Teardown over the next year, not forgetting the game’s first-ever season pass. Below, you’ll find more information on the upcoming campaign expansion, a few new modes, as well as a preview of a couple of little surprises to come… but first, here’s a recap of the game.
There are many ways to play Teardown, but when taking your first steps into the game, we recommend starting with the story campaign. It is made up of 40 levels that will put your creativity and logic to the test. Each level begins with a main task (for example, stealing or destroying certain objects) and a series of bonus challenges. You will then have to use tools, weapons and vehicles to find a way to achieve your objective… during missions which will sometimes be real races against time. You will have time to prepare your approach and organize your route, knowing that unexpected obstacles will (most likely) stand in your way at the most inopportune times…
Once you’ve familiarized yourself with the campaign and experienced some of the more structured modes, you can set out to conquer the sandbox where freedom is the name of the game. In this mode, you are free to explore without any limits all the cards that you have unlocked during the campaign, and even to atomize them with the tools at your disposal. Here, you will also access Creativity mode which is a complete game-changer by offering you… create (as its name suggests). Using all kinds of building materials and tools, you’ll have the opportunity to build your own structures, sculptures, foliage, and more… before destroying them too if you feel like it.
Alongside the launch of Teardown on PS5, we will offer the Time Campers DLC, an expansion to the campaign set in the Wild West. This content expands the game experience in many ways. In particular, you will discover a new scenario that propels you into the past, where you will brandish old-school weapons and tools while sowing joyful chaos in a dusty mining town. We’re light years away from the contemporary setting of Teardown’s main campaign, but the heist concept fits particularly well in a period known for its mind-blowing heists. We had an incredible time with this DLC by creating new maps and tools from period materials, studying new types of architecture, and introducing new interactive elements like the horse and the wagon. …
Beyond Time Campers, other DLCs are on the horizon! Yes, the experience that Teardown offers is not limited to the use of portable tools! Indeed, you will often need the help of vehicles and equipment to accomplish your missions. To make this content a rewarding part of the game, we invested a lot of time into vehicular driving gameplay. Then, the spring Folkrace DLC will go even further, putting you in control of a fleet of exceptional vehicles that you can pilot in new racing modes and destructive challenges. After Folkrace, two additional DLCs are planned for 2024! We look forward to revealing more about them when the time comes.
Creativity is at the heart of Teardown, both in the campaign and in Sandbox mode, but that’s not all. Our current community has already designed some pretty impressive mods! We might as well tell you that we are very happy to announce that a selection of our favorite mods will also be playable on consoles. We’ll tell you more as we get closer to the release date, but fear not: you’ll be able to pet the pooch. It’s going to be a lot of movement in the near future, but we’re incredibly excited to welcome PlayStation players to our sandbox very soon.
