PlayStation Plus and Now: the accumulation of subscriptions prohibited until the launch of the new prices, no more shenanigans!

Sony Interactive Entertainment recently confirmed that the reunification of the Playstation Plus and Playstation Nowleading to the appearance of the formulas PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra and Premium, would occur on June 22 in Europe. New subscriptions will cost €59.99, €99.99 and €119.99 per year respectively.

Current subscribers to Playstation Plus will automatically switch to the PlayStation Plus Essential keeping their prepaid time, with the possibility of paying a supplement to transform their subscription into Extra Where Premium. Current subscribers to Playstation Now will see their subscription transformed into PlayStation Plus Premium without increasing the price of their current subscription: if you subscribe to both services, you will therefore switch to the PlayStation Plus Premiumwith a single next payment date “corresponding to your subscription with the furthest end date”.

Knowing that the Playstation Now currently costs only €59.99 per year, i.e. 2 times less than the future PlayStation Plus Premiummany clever people have been tempted to combine their subscriptions over several years to save money. The manufacturer was obviously aware of the scheme and decided to cut it short: claiming a desire to streamline the technical changes to come, it now prevents extending your subscription Playstation Plus Where Playstation Nowand this until the arrival of new formulas…

Once launched, new customers won’t suffer because their subscription voucher Playstation Plus will give rise to a subscription PlayStation Plus Extraand their subscription voucher Playstation Now to a subscription PlayStation Plus Premium : given that the marketing of the latter was stopped at the beginning of the year, as much to tell you that it is a rare currency. For players with a current subscription, the bill will not be the same: the voucher PS+ Where PS Now that you will use will be ” converted to a term of your current PlayStation Plus subscription equivalent to the monetary value of the voucher “. In other words, it’s over stacking subscription Playstation Now to be a member PlayStation Plus Premium at reduced prices over a long period of time.

Everything is explained in the Updated Official FAQto be found below.

I am already a PlayStation Plus and/or PlayStation Now member. Why am I getting an error message when trying to add time to my subscription either by purchasing more time from PlayStation Store on console/web/app or by applying a subscription voucher?

As we prepare to launch the new PlayStation Plus subscription service, we’re working behind the scenes to make the transition as smooth as possible for all of our existing members. As part of this work, we have temporarily disabled cumulative memberships for existing customers until after launch. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid and you will be able to redeem your code either when your existing subscription expires and deactivates or after the new PlayStation Plus service has launched in your region, whichever comes first.

I have a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now subscription voucher for 1 month, 3 months or 12 months. What will happen if I use it before the launch of the new PlayStation Plus service?

  • If you are not a current member of the service the voucher is for, you can redeem your voucher via PS4, PS5, web and mobile app. Click here for instructions. If you join PlayStation Plus and still have an active subscription when the new PlayStation Plus service launches, you will upgrade to PlayStation Plus Essential. If you join PlayStation Now and still have an active subscription when the new PlayStation Plus service launches, you will automatically migrate to PlayStation Plus Premium.
  • If you currently have a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now subscription, due to changes we are making to the service prior to launch, you will not be able to redeem a voucher code for this service until your existing subscription expires and is has not been deactivated, or after the new PlayStation Plus service is launched in your region, whichever comes first. Rest assured that your voucher code is still valid. See the next question for more information.

I have a PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now subscription voucher for 1 month, 3 months or 12 months. What will happen if I use it after the launch of the new PlayStation Plus service?

If you do not have an active subscription:

  • The PlayStation Plus voucher you use will give you access to PlayStation Plus Essential for the duration stated on your original voucher. For example, a one month PlayStation Plus voucher will give access to one month of PlayStation Plus Essential.
  • The PlayStation Now voucher you use will give you access to PlayStation Plus Premium for a period equivalent to the monetary value of your original voucher. For example, a one-month PlayStation Now voucher will give access to approximately 3 weeks of PlayStation Plus Premium. See the conversion table here for more details.

If you are already a customer:

  • The PlayStation Plus or PlayStation Now voucher you redeem will be converted into a term of your current PlayStation Plus subscription equivalent to the monetary value of the voucher you redeem. For example, a one-month PlayStation Plus voucher will give access to approximately 3 weeks of PlayStation Plus Extra or approximately 2.5 weeks of PlayStation Plus Premium. See the conversion table here for more details.

You can therefore still purchase 12-month subscriptions at Playstation Plus at 59.99 €, but without the possibility of making them grow in a subscription of a higher value. The only interesting maneuver remains to subscribe for 12 months to the Playstation Now before June 22 to benefit from the PlayStation Plus Premium at a reduced price for the first year. Cumulation will become possible again after the reunification of services, with the prices desired by the publisher.
