Playstation Plus Premium: here are the first PS1 and PS2 games offered to players


Sony is still very secret about the list of backward compatible games that will be offered to subscribers to the Premium version of the new Playstation Plus. Nevertheless, it happens that the certification bodies spill the beans on certain titles.

As you may know, the Playstation Plus will make its big change in June 2022. Indeed, Sony has decided to create a new entity, the result of the merger between the current Playstation Plus and Playstation Now, the cloud service manufacturer gaming. Now players will be able to choose between three different formulas:

  • the Essential offer, which offers the same advantages as the current Playstation Plus
  • the Extra offer, which will also allow you to enjoy 400 PS4 and PS5 games from the PlayStation Studios catalog and third-party partner studios
  • The Premium offer, which adds to all this an additional 340 games among PS3 titles streamed via the cloud as well as great PlayStation, PS2 and PSP classics

And who says new formulas says new prices:

  • €8.99 per month, €24.99 per quarter and €59.99 per year for PlayStation Plus Essential
  • €13.99 per month, €39.99 per quarter and €99.99 per year for PlayStation Plus Extra
  • €16.99 per month, €49.99 per quarter and €119.99 per year for PlayStation Plus Premium

Siphon Filter back soon on PS4 and PS5?

Regarding the list of backward compatible games offered to Playstation Plus Premium subscribers, the list is still kept secret. Nevertheless, the South Korean certification body has just given valuable clues on certain titles. In effect, the organization has just listed several PS4 and PS5 games which nevertheless started their career on… Playstation first of the name!

These are the games from the cult Siphon Filter saga, a benchmark action and stealth game. This listing includes Siphon Filter (Playstation, 1999), Siphon Filter 2 (Playstation, 2000), Siphon Filter: Dark Mirror (PSP and PS2, 2006/2007) and Siphon Filter Logan’s Shadow (PSP and PS2, 2007). As you will have understood, there is a good chance that the first Siphon Filter will open the ball of backward compatible games offered to Playstation Plus Premium subscribers.

As a reminder, the launch of the new Playstation Plus comes with bad news for PC gamers. Indeed, with the removal of Playstation Now, PC gamers will have to pay twice as much to continue playing streaming via the cloud.
