It has been rumored for several weeks that Sony Interactive Entertainment prepare a counter-offensive against the Xbox Game Pass by unifying the Playstation Plus and the Playstation Now under the banner of the first, most popular service. This initiative which would be nicknamed Project Spartacus internally could be launched in the spring of 2022, with 3 types of subscriptions to satisfy everyone.
Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat obviously knows more about it and shared his information in an interesting article. According to its sources, there would be 3 formulas at different prices. the PlayStation Plus Essential would cost $9.99 per month, and would provide access to monthly games and online services. This would be the equivalent subscription to the current service, hoping that the annual subscription at €59.99 is still possible.
Then there would be the PlayStation Plus Extraat $12.99 per month, which would add access to a catalog of PS4 and PS5 games for download. It would be quite similar to what we currently find on the Playstation Now, with of course a selection of games that would evolve over time. Finally, the most complete formula would be the PlayStation Plus Premium at €15.99which would also bring the possibility of stream games like the PS Nowbut also a catalog of “classic” titles and exclusive tests of new productions: the famous Game Trials initiated last year?
Jeff Grubb specifies that the prices and formulas could change between now and the launch, but that EIS would plan to announce them next month and test them in the coming weeks. So, ready to switch subscriptions on PlayStation 4 or 5?
