PlayStation Plus: Sony has not said everything, more than 100 games are inaccessible on the PC application

The new PlayStation Plus Premium offer includes a section dedicated to game streaming. It is possible to access it from the PS5 or a PC application. But the PC catalog is much less rich, a hundred games from the old PlayStations are missing, while others are present, but poorly arranged. As a result, they fail to launch. A degraded experience which shows that the Premium offer was certainly not ready.

Sony launched, at the end of last week, the marketing of the new PlayStation Plus formula. It comes in three tiers: Essentialbringing together all the services of the old PlayStation; Extra and Premium (which now includes PlayStation Now). These last two notably include access to a catalog of games. Only the Premium level allows you to play games from the old PlayStations (PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP). Those are 740 games that are accessible for Premium subscribersagainst 400 games from the Extra offer.

You can now find in our columns a complete handling of the PlayStation Plus Premium offer, a level which, obviously, was created to compete with the Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering game streaming on PS5 and PC. But that’s not its only argument: it plays heavily on nostalgia and emotion thanks to access to a great selection of games which, for some, have marked the history of PlayStations. However, it must be recognized that the result is not always up to par. We reported this in our Getting Started.

More than a hundred games are unavailable for streaming on PC

If the experience on consumed is good, even if it can be improved, it is much less qualitative on PC. A Reddit user reported that a lot of the games available to stream on PS5 aren’t in the app for Windows. An irregularity that affects games as well PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3 or PS4. Find with the source link a relatively complete list.

More than a hundred titles are missing (out of the 740 promised by Sony). And we find in the list of emblematic games: Demon’s Souls, Devil May Cry 4, God of War HD 1 and 2, Fallout New Vegas, Infamous 2, Lego Star Wars Complete Saga and Lego Star Wars III Clone Wars, Lost Planet 1 and 2, Ratchet & Clank, Star Wars The Force Unleashed 1 and 2, or even Red Dead Redemption 2.

Bugs that are not worthy of the Sony brand image

And that’s not the only problem. Others have been misplaced in the service catalog. Indeed, Infamous First Light, Spiderman, Control, The Last of Us Remastered or Uncharted The Nathan Drake Legacy have been placed in the PS3 section, even though they are PS4 games. PS4 games aren’t the only victims. PS1, PS2 and PSP games are also affected. Take the example of Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, released on PS1. It is marked PS3. And the problem is not simply a difficulty in finding the game. When the system opens these games, he launches them with the PS3 emulator and it crashes.

Between the absent games and the games that do not start, the PC streaming catalog of the PlayStation Plus Premium is therefore severely amputated. A finding that makes people talk on Reddit and social networks. Because the Premium pack is the most expensive and the service does not live up to Sony’s image. It is obvious that the problem will be solved. But it also confirms that the service was marketed a little too quickly.
