PlayStation Plus: You have to dig deeper into your pockets for these features – GIGA Insights

This week, Sony unveiled some changes to its PlayStation Plus subscription service. More features have been announced, but they also cost a lot more. In this issue of GIGA Insights you can find out what is changing for you and what else happened this week.

PlayStation Plus: More content for more money

One of the cheapest ways to get games is without a doubt Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. For less than 10 euros a month, Game Pass users get access to a games library of over 100 game titles in one fell swoop; for a few euros more, PC games and Xbox cloud gaming are also included. A well-rounded offer that at least seemed unrivaled until now.

This week, Sony has introduced major changes to its own PlayStation Plus subscription service. In addition to online gaming and free games, a number of new functions are being added to this service, but these – of course – also have an extra charge. So PlayStation Plus could soon cost you up to 17.99 euros if you decide to use the new features. You can find out exactly what is changing for you in this issue of GIGA Insights; you can find the video at the top of the article.

Xbox Game Pass: Family Plan could be coming

But the Game Pass could soon get a significant expansion. As Windows Central claims to have learned from an internal source, Microsoft is working on offering a family subscription as well. With such a family plan, several players could use the full range of Game Pass with just one subscription.

New Android feature for older smartphones

When it comes to updates, Android doesn’t have a particularly good track record. At least in one place that seems to be changing. Google started rolling out a security feature to a whole range of older smartphones this week. All Android smartphones from Android version Marshmallow (6.0) from 2015 can benefit from this new function.
