Sony has just teamed up with the Backbone brand to announce a brand new controller for Apple mobile devices. A rather classy device but whose interest seems quite limited.

For several months now, Xbox has invested our smartphones, tablets and even our Smart TVs through Cloud gaming. This week, it is precisely on these mobile devices that PlayStation intends to set its sights. For this, the Japanese firm has entered into a partnership with Backbone in order to design a new controller.

Classy but dispensable?

This peripheral soberly named Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is illustrated today through its announcement video (see below). The controller in question is exclusively reserved for iPhone users. The design is extremely close to that of a DualSense despite the arrival of asymmetrical sticks a bit like a controller Xbox. Apart from this specificity, all the usual keys are in the game.

In addition to the controller, you will have to go through the PS Remote Play application to be able to play the PS4 and PS5 catalogs. This mobile app requires a connection of at least 5 Mb/s and a PlayStation console nearby. Indeed, it is only a remote play and not a Cloud gaming service strictly speaking. So there’s no need to expect to play on the go with this Backbone One – PlayStation Edition.

The controller will still cost 119.99 euros.
