Sony Interactive Entertainment Chairman and CEO Jim Ryan has shared new details and information on PlayStation’s strategy going forward during the Game & Network Services segment of Sony Corporation’s 2022 Business Segment Briefings. According to the presentation, the PlayStation VR 2 (or PSVR 2) will launch with over 20 major titles.

We do not have not much information about the PlayStation VR2 release date yetbut given that Sony seems to have a pretty clear idea of what the launch lineup looks like, it’s likely that reports of a 2023 release date are right on the mark.

Horizon Call of the Mountain will be the first game on PSVR 2

During Sony’s keynote at CES 2022 in January, Sony had shared the official technical specifications of its next virtual reality headset, but above all confirmed the name of its VR controller: the PlayStation VR2 Sense. During the conference, Sony also mentioned the first PSVR2 game: Horizon Call of the Mountain by Guerrilla and Firesprite.

Developed by Guerrilla Games in partnership with recently acquired UK developer Firesprite, Call of the Mountain is described as an original game designed specifically for the PS VR2, which ” will open the doors to a world deeper than that of Horizon “.

As a reminder, Call of the Mountain will not put you in the shoes of Aloy, the redheaded protagonist of Zero Dawn and Forbidden West. However, you will have the chance to meet other characters from the franchise during your adventure.

We know a number of other teams are working on PS VR2, including Coatsink, nDreams and Fast Travel Games, but announcements on this subject have been rather rare. Anyway, Sony had already teased what its second-generation VR headset would look like at a February conference, and we can’t wait to try it out.
