PlayStation VR 2: while waiting for new information, fans make our mouths water


We don’t know much about PlayStation VR2 yet, but a first trailer has just been released. It wasn’t released by Sony, but it’s not a leak either: it’s a fan-made trailer!

Sony’s upcoming VR headset for the PlayStation 5 has been briefly teased so far, with a few specs, but only three photos. Fans have made an artist’s view of what the PlayStation VR2 will look like from these few photos to make a real-fake trailer!

These are the members of the site specializing in PS VR VR4Player.com who posted a video on YouTube: a fake trailer featuring the PS VR2. The site is used to making ” design concepts of PlayStation products and created artist’s views made from the few photos that Sony was kind enough to share. So this is not a ” concept design“, but indeed the PS VR2 which is presented in the video.

What we know about PS VR2

Sony has yet to reveal much information about the PlayStation VR2. We know for the moment that it will be equipped with two OLED screens with a definition of 2000 by 2040 pixels, which can go up to 120 Hz. The field of vision will be around 110 degrees. VR4Player.comrecalls that the helmet will have a “six-axis motion detection system […] and an IR proximity sensor“.

We can also see that the front panel will have four cameras for monitoring the helmet and the controller as well as two IR cameras for monitoring the eyes in the helmet. Finally, the PlayStation VR2 can be connected to the PlayStation 5 via a single USB-C cable and it will be equipped with a microphone and a headphone output.

We don’t yet know the launch date or even the price of the next version of Sony’s virtual reality headset. But it’s expected to launch by the end of 2022, although some say the headset won’t be expected until 2023.
