The Gamescom is about to make its big comeback in physics, after two years of closure following the pandemic that has affected the world. But even if this event wants to bring together the majority of the major video game players, it sometimes has to deal with a few absentees, and again this year, Nintendo has declared that it is skipping the German show. The manufacturer will not be the only one, since PlayStation also announces that it will not be traveling for the 2022 edition.
Another major absentee for Gamescom
It will be necessary to do without PlayStation within the Koelnmesse. It was a representative of the PlayStation group who affirmed this to the Games Wirtschaft site, but who did not give the reasons for this absence.
As a reminder, Nintendo said that despite the fact that the manufacturer does not go to the show, many events would be organized across Germany to meet fans. For PlayStation, we unfortunately have no more information at the moment.
VGC then explains that it is possible to explain these absences by the fact that since the pandemic, the studios are less likely to work on demos to be presented in living rooms, and that consequently, some completely ignore these last. We will now wait to see if all this will change in 2023, with the return of E3 and the hybrid organization of the Summer Game Fest.
