The service of instant messaging WhatsApp will drop support for iOS versions 10 and 11 as of October 24. The iPhone 5 and 5C will no longer be able to access it at all.

After dropping support for iOS 9 last year, WhatsApp is continuing its security housekeeping by announcing that it will no longer support iPhone models that run iOS 10 and iOS 11 from October 24. This information was shared by Internet users on social networks, who were able to see a message inviting them to update their smartphone if it had not already been done.
Additionally, it can be read on the app’s Help Center page that the app will only support devices with iOS 12 and later. If many iPhones are still able to download the most recent versions of iOS, the 5 and 5C models will no longer be able to access them, since it is not possible for them to download versions beyond iOS 11. The iPhone 5S, 6 and 6S, on the other hand, are entitled to it.
Judging by the schedule for ending system release support, next on the list will be iOS 12 as early as next year.
