The Plex service has just added in beta the functionality that it was perhaps missing to finish convincing of its interest and its solidity: the aggregation of content from all SVoD services.

Basically, you will be able to search and add content from Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+ and others to your list directly in Plex.

Plex adds a serious string to its bow

While lately it’s mostly Kodi that’s been taking up space in the media hub news with its latest major release, Plex has just struck a big, big blow. The service, which notably offers a reader solution, and above all a server solution, to enjoy its video and audio content at home, has just fulfilled one of its long-term promises. We have to believe that the 50 million dollars raised a year ago were well used.

Concretely, Plex can now act as a hub for your own content and for the free content offered by the service (movies and series, especially in the United States), but also for all the content available on a large number of SVoD services. . These include Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Canal+, Arte, Apple TV+, OCS, Disney+, HBO Max, Wakanim and many others.

Universal search and playlist

After possibly selecting the services of your choice in order to display in Plex the works that are popular there, all you have to do is find and add films and series in a unified playlist. To do this, it is possible to go through a rich search (by title, cast, director, service, etc.), which then displays a file for each product.

On these cards, in one click, all you have to do is add the film or series to your reading list, or directly launch the service where the work is located (this launches the dedicated application that must therefore have installed, and not the Plex player). And if you don’t feel like searching, a new section called Discovery offers suggestions. Note that all of this takes into account videos on your own server. You can even add works that haven’t been released yet to see the trailers and anticipate their video release.

Finally, Plex has the good taste to offer this feature to all its users and not to block it behind its Plex Pass subscription. The most impatient (like us) can already try it through the beta update channel, while the others will have to wait an indefinite period.
