The application should soon enjoy better performance by adapting to the latest processors developed by Apple.

It’s been almost two years since Apple switched to the ARM architecture with its M1 processors, but publishers are taking their time to offer adapted versions of their software.

Greater performance for users of M1 processors

This is the case of Plex Media Server, the software that allows you to play your video content on all compatible devices, including the Mac. The application allows the streaming of content but also the classification of the latter as well as the automatic recovery of metadata for a better presentation.

The latest beta version of Plex Media Server has therefore just been released and is a universal version, that is to say, it can be used on both Intel and Apple Silicon processors, i.e. all M1 chips produced by Apple.

Performance should be much better for the latest Macs, as macOS doesn’t need to translate code with Rosetta emulation technology.

Just head over to Plex’s site to manually grab this latest beta. The publisher warns that users of an older evaluation version must also download the installation package, as their copy of the software cannot be updated.
