«Absolutely suitable to wear it»
A T-shirt manufacturer is now making fun of this tragedy, writes the “New York Post”. The seller sells tops labeled “Kabul Skydiving Club Est. 2021 »on it. A military aircraft and two people who fall out of the machine are printed below.
A model advertises the shirt in a short clip on YouTube. The man smiles at the camera and runs a hand through his hair. The tasteless garment is available in various sizes and colors for the equivalent of CHF 14.60 in several online shops.
The description says: “The Kabul Skydiving Club shirt with the scene in which a plane flies in the sky and two people suddenly fall out of it, officially becomes a phenomenon and then goes viral on the Internet!” For those who are into «skydiving and love to jump out of the plane to experience this high atmosphere», the shirt is «absolutely suitable to wear!».
In a strange contrast to this, the unknown makers express their condolences and write at the beginning that they are “inconsolable” after the terrible death of the people and that the shirt “actually has a political meaning”.
This attempt to wriggle out, however, backfires. There is criticism on the net. “As Afghans flee in desperation and cling to planes, someone has decided to capitalize on their pain and misery with this disgusting T-shirt.” “That is absolutely disgusting,” writes another user.
Investigation initiated
The US Air Force has now launched an investigation into the deadly chaos surrounding the departure of the machine. The authority said that the machine will remain on the ground for further investigations. Videos and posts from social media would also be included in the research.
According to the US Air Force, the C-17 machine landed at the Afghan capital’s airport on Monday to deliver equipment for the evacuation operations there. Before the crew could unload the material, however, the plane was surrounded by hundreds of Afghans who broke security barriers. In view of the rapidly deteriorating security situation, the crew decided to leave the tarmac as soon as possible. (man)
