“More beautiful life, even more beautiful” is arriving today on TF1! How does the former France 3 soap opera pay tribute to Marwan Berreni (Abdel) and Michel Cordes (Roland), both of whom died in 2023?
Plus belle la vie finally makes its comeback on TF1 this January 8, 2024. From Monday to Friday from 1:40 p.m. (and for around twenty minutes), the adventures of the Mistraliens resume where they left off on France 3 ago is more than a year old… or almost!
Tribute to Michel Cordes and Marwan Berreni
New settings, new actors, new title… This sequel to the series returns to the fundamentals, while offering a nice dose of surprises! A good number of actors have agreed to replay their emblematic characters but two members of the old cast are unfortunately conspicuous by their absence.
As a reminder, Michel Cordes, who in fact slipped into the skin of Roland, died in May 2023, a few months after the end of Plus belle la vie on France 3. In the intrigues, the former manager of the bar Le Mistral died of a heart attack on the iconic square of the series.
For his part, after having been sought for many weeks, Marwan Berreni was found dead in October 2023. Unfortunately, the one who played Abdel was supposed to take part in this PBLV made in TF1… Devastated by these two major losses, the teams of fiction have decided to pay tribute from the first episode to the deceased actors.
Thus, More beautiful life, even more beautiful opens on a black screen with a very sober note addressed to the deceased. We can therefore read written in white: “in memory of Michel Cordes and Marwan Berreni.“But that’s not all because the characters of Roland and Abdel are then mentioned by their loved ones.
How will Abdel’s absence be justified?
While Thomas (Laurent Kérusoré) and Kilian (Tim Rousseau) prepare to open a brand new Mistral bar, Roland’s sons also take care to install with great emotion a pretty photo of the Marci family. They pose in this photo in the company of their father, as well as alongside their brother François and their sister Lola (who do not return in the series).
Later, Barbara (Léa François), for her part, discusses with difficulty Abdel (who was the father of her child and her partner according to the latest news) with Thomas after an argument with Francesco (Emanuele Giorgi). Estelle’s husband (Elodie Varlet) criticizes his ex for not getting involved in a restaurant project with him…
After the cook disappears, Barbara tells Thomas that Francesco’s offer came when she found herself alone with her son… Upset and with tears in her eyes, Barbara is unable to confide more to his friend as this story is still very painful for him.
Will we end up knowing what happened to the lawyer’s protagonist? To be continued in Plus belle la vie, even plus belle to find out… One thing is certain in any case, Abdel, Roland and their performers will always remain in the memory of fans.
