While France Télévisions’ contract for the broadcast of Plus belle la vie is coming to an end, TF1 is in talks to recover the rights. An agreement that could save the series.
The coronavirus will not have spared More beautiful life. The France Télévisions contract for the broadcast of the series will be interrupted on December 31, 2022. Today more than ever, the question of the future of the television program arises and worries the producers. “The negotiations are tougher than usual between the management and the production group Newen (note, French leaders in audiovisual production and distribution), a subsidiary of TF1”writes the newspaper The Parisian Released Sunday March 20. France Télévisions is considering replacing the program with another, potentially a game show according to The Parisian. “We were asked to look at what was happening on the market in this area”, says a public service executive. Another possibility is to reduce costs. “We can easily offer a format at 20,000 euros per day, four to five times cheaper”we still confide on a daily basis.
Viewers are mobilizing
Viewers also rallied to save the series. A petition has been signed by more than 10,000 Internet users to offer a future to More beautiful life, after 18 seasons and 17 years of broadcasting. Will TF1 save the program?
