Poco C65: 4G, a big screen and a very low price

If Xiaomi has focused, since the formalization of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, on high-end smartphones (the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro), its daughter brand, Poco, focuses on entry-level models, more capable of to sell in large quantities and in most markets. It is therefore a model called Poco C65, announced at the same time on the South-East Asian markets, which will appear within a few weeks in France. Its major advantage is none other than its price: for its 6/128 GB version, it will cost €149, while its 8/256 GB version will cost €169.

For such a price, no surprise that the Poco C65 offers a modest technical sheet. It therefore relies on a screen with a generous diagonal of 6.74 inches, but whose resolution is limited to HD+ (definition of 1600 x 720 pixels) and which is based on LCD technology. If its brightness does not leave you speechless (600 nits maximum), we note that its refresh rate is 90 Hz and that it is protected by Gorilla Glass.

The classic Helio G85 in charge

Under the hood of the device, we find a chip well known in the entry-level smartphone market: the Helio G85 from MediaTek. Released three years ago, we saw it in G series smartphones from Motorola, Realme models or Oppo A range. The eight-core chip, engraved in 12 nm, does not include a modem 5G and is therefore content to offer access to 4G. It is flanked by at least 6 GB of RAM, while the smartphone’s storage (128 or 256 GB) is expandable via a microSD card up to 1 TB. More than a riot of power, we can expect good autonomy from such a configuration, especially since the C65 includes a 5000 mAh accumulator. The battery supports 18W power supply.

Finally, we note that the Poco C65 is secured by a side fingerprint reader complementing face recognition, that it has three back photo modules (a 50 Mpx main sensor with a wide-angle and a dedicated 2 Mpx secondary sensor macro, supplemented by a depth sensor), and an 8 Mpx module on the front; To stand out, Poco mainly relies on creative filters aimed at young people. The device is also entitled, like most low-cost mobiles, to a mini-jack socket allowing you to plug in wired headphones.

The Poco C65 is positioned in a smartphone market under €150 where references are rare. There we find in particular models such as the Samsung Galaxy A04s, some Motorola Moto G (the G13 for example) or models such as Redmi Note 11 signed Xiaomi dating from 2022. The Poco C65 will be released under MiUI 14 and will be available from November 20 in black, purple and blue.
