Poco X6 Pro in a short test: This 350 euro cell phone is as fast as a top smartphone

POCO X6 PRO

The Poco X6 Pro is now available for 350 euros. In the short test, it impresses with performance at a top smartphone level. But that’s not all.

In 2018, the star of the Xiaomi subsidiary Poco rose. With the Pocophone F1, the brand presented a cell phone with the then high-end Snapdragon 845 processor and only charged just under 330 euros for it. Around six years later, the company launched a similar model: the Poco X6 Pro.

By the way, the heart of the model this time is not a Qualcomm chip, but the new MediaTek processor Dimensity 8300 Ultra. It is manufactured using the advanced 4-nanometer process and clocks at up to 3.35 gigahertz. According to Xiaomi, it achieved 1,464,2281 points in the popular AnTuTu benchmark. We were able to try out the Poco X6 Pro for a few hours and the results weren’t quite as high. The device achieved 1,344,791 points for us.

Flagship-level performance

With this score, the Poco powered by the Qualcomm chip. Both models currently cost around 680 euros, so they are significantly more expensive than the Poco X6 Pro.

Upper-class cell phones in a benchmark comparison (2023 and 2024)

Yellow color variant offers unusual back

What does the Poco X6 Pro have to offer apart from the fast processor? First of all, there is the striking design. The cell phone is available in three colors: black, gray and yellow – the latter in particular catches the eye and is an ideal gift for Borussia Dortmund fans.

Poco pairs a black frame with a yellow back, which is made of artificial leather, which is unusual for this price range. However, this only applies to the yellow color variant. The other models come with a conventional plastic back.

Poco X6 Pro in pictures

This is what Xiaomi’s new mid-range phone looks like.

The artificial leather provides more grip and a pleasant feel. The rounded corners and edges reinforce this impression. The Poco X6 Pro is a flatterer. Unfortunately not a compact one. You definitely need both hands to operate the 6.67 inch device.

At least the power button and volume rocker are well placed and easy to reach with your fingers. The same cannot be said about the fingerprint sensor in the display; in our opinion, it is located far too low at the bottom of the screen and not where our fingers normally touch the screen when we pick up the device.

You don’t have to make any compromises elsewhere for the fast processor and the unusual look. The screen used is an AMOLED panel and not an LCD, which is what you might expect given the price. The battery is generous at 5,000 milliamp hours. It can be charged with up to 67 watts; the power supply required for this is included in the scope of delivery. This is no longer a given today, even in this price range.

camera

For photo and video recording, the Poco X6 Pro offers a 64-megapixel camera on the back as well as an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The camera doesn’t offer a telephoto lens, but Poco promises you a 2x digital zoom without any significant losses. In fact, the results are impressive at first glance.

Also nice: The Poco X6 Pro appears directly with the current Android version 14 and the new Xiaomi HyperOS user interface. In the past you usually had to make do with an older system. However, Poco does not reveal how many updates the device will receive. But you can at least expect an update to Android 15.

Netzwelt means

If you are looking for a cheap cell phone with a lot of computing power, the Poco X6 Pro should be on your list. Other plus points are the cool design and the current Android version. A strong package that Poco has put together here for 349 euros.
