Poco X6 Pro, X6 and M6 Pro: here are the first smartphones running HyperOS

Xiaomi is starting the year 2024 with a bang. While the Chinese brand, number 3 on the smartphone market in France, intends to consolidate its place with the help of a Redmi 13 series, the presentation of which is scheduled for January 15, it is under its Poco brand that it formalizes three new smartphones.

Here are the Poco X6 Pro, Xiaomi’s previous software, MiUI. The latter is intended to equip all of the brand’s products, including IoT, from this year. Important detail, if the Poco X6 Pro immediately runs on HyperOS, based on Android 14, this is not the case for the “as quickly as possible” on both smartphones.

HyperOS and a technical sheet focused on power

These elements aside, the new Poco smartphones show a familiar face to those who know the brand. Oriented towards performance and adopting a characteristic design, they benefit from solid technical data sheets despite low prices.

The X6 Pro 5G, the best-off of the set, thus offers a 6.67-inch (1.5K) Amoled screen promising both a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1800 nits . It is based on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300-Ultra chip, accompanied by a LiquidCool Technology 2.0 cooling system, and 8 to 12 GB of RAM.

A 5000 mAh battery (charging at 67 W) completes the package, while a triple module (64 Mpx main sensor, 8 Mpx ultra wide-angle module and 2 Mpx macro sensor) forms a photo shutter that n is not thought of as the priority of such a device.

The smartphone is also compatible with wifi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and is IP54 certified. As specified above, Poco is banking on attractive prices: count on €349 for the 8/256 GB version and €419 for the 12/512 GB version.

The Poco X6, more affordable and undoubtedly a little less powerful, should benefit from advantageous value for money. It actually has the same screen as the X6 Pro, but protected by Gorilla Glass Victus while the Pro model prefers Gorilla Glass 5, a little older.

It is equipped with the same photo block, a slightly larger battery (5100 mAh, still with 67 W charging), and retains its IP54 certification, as well as its 5G connectivity. On the other hand, it switches to wifi ac and Bluetooth 5.2 and adopts the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip from Qualcomm, which we have not yet had the opportunity to test in a smartphone and which is positioned more at the entry/mid-range. Xiaomi adds 8 to 12 GB of RAM and charges €299 (8/256 GB), €329 (12/256 GB) or €369 (12/512 GB) for the whole thing.

Poco M6 Pro, the 4G option

This overview would not be complete without a word on the Poco M6 Pro, the more affordable price of the range which justifies its compromise: it is not 5G compatible, being equipped with a Helio G99-Ultra chip of MediaTek. This, engraved in 6 nm, is accompanied by 8 to 12 GB of RAM, as is the case with the X6 and X6 Pro, and storage of 256 to 512 GB, which however gains the support of a microSD port.
