With the Poco X6 and the X6 Pro, the Xiaomi brand is launching two new mid-range cell phones in Germany in January 2024. They will be available from January 11th. Prices start at 299 euros (X6) or 349 euros (X6 Pro). You can find out below what advantages the Pro model offers.

The Poco X6 and the Would you like an example? Both the Poco X6 Pro and the Poco X6 offer a 6.67-inch display. However, the two devices are not the same size. Speaking of colors: The Poco X6 is available in black, blue and white, the X6 Pro in black, gray and yellow. The back of the yellow version of the X6 Pro is covered with artificial leather; on the other models it is made of plastic.

The two Poco models not only differ visually, there are also some technical differences. Below we list the most important ones:

At first glance, the same screen appears to be installed in the Poco X6 and the X6 Pro. Both devices have a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel that reproduces images at a maximum speed of up to 120 Hertz and has a Full HD+ resolution. The maximum brightness and sampling rate specified by the manufacturer are also identical at 1,800 nits and 2,160 hertz, respectively.

However, the base model has Dolby Vision certification, which the Pro model surprisingly lacks. Likewise, the screen of the Pro model is only protected by Gorilla Glass 5; the base model uses the stronger Gorilla Glass Victus.

There are big differences in the processor: The Pro model uses the MediaTek chip Dimensity 8300 Ultra, while Xiaomi uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor in the Poco X6. Both chipsets were recently introduced and the Poco cell phones are among the first models in which they are used.

Qualcomm chips are usually considered more powerful by smartphone fans, but in this case it’s the other way around. While the Snapdragon 7s Gen2 only achieved around 600,000 points in the popular AnTuTu benchmark, the Dimensity 8300 Ultra achieved a score of 1.46 million and is therefore on par with top smartphones from 2023.

Storage

The Poco Poco also offers a version with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM.

The Poco X6 Pro, on the other hand, is only available in two versions in Germany: Here you can choose between a 256 GB and a 512 GB model. The RAM is 8 or 12 gigabytes.

The battery in the Pro model has a battery capacity of 5,000 milliamperes hours (mAh), and in the basic model it is even 5,100 mAh. Both batteries can be charged with a maximum of 67 watts. Wireless charging is not supported by either model.

Other differences

• The basic model has a jack connection, but the Pro model no longer has one.
• Only the Pro model supports WiFi 6.
• While Android 14 with the new HyperOS user interface is already used on the Poco X6 Pro, the base model comes with Android 13 and the older MIUI user interface.

Netzwelt means

The Pro model essentially offers more computing power. Given the low surcharge, we think it’s definitely advisable to go for the Pro version. In our opinion, the other differences are not particularly significant in everyday life.
