Podcast. In Chile, the struggle of the Mapuche indigenous community

For several decades, in Chile, many natives of the Mapuche community have been claiming lands lost since the last century and are actively campaigning to recover them. This sometimes violent conflict has escalated in recent years and is a thorny issue in Chilean political life. The election of a new president, Gabriel Boric, represents a glimmer of hope towards the resolution of the conflict.

The journalist Flora Genoux went to meet, to The world, of the Mapuche in the region of Araucanie, in the south of the country, where tensions crystallize. In this episode of the “L’Heure du Monde” podcast, she recounts the origins of this conflict, the resulting violence and the country’s hope, at a turning point in its history.

An episode produced by Madjid Bennaceur, directed by Amandine Robillard and presented by Morgane Tual.
