Podcast "So techt Germany": Digital patient files? Already 15 years old …

The digital patient file has been worked on in Germany since 1996. 25 years later it's finally here, but there is criticism. Because the technological basis is 15 years old, complains Stefan Adolf from the digital agency Turbine Kreuzberg in the new episode of the ntv podcast "So techt Germany".

He calls himself "Developer Ambassador". A "ghost of words" that Stefan Adolf and his boss invented during a trip to the subway. He is an ambassador who carries information from and into the company, Stefan Adolf tries to convey his task. "I am both a developer and a communicator."

Among other things, he is currently working on the digitization of the healthcare system and, in particular, the digital patient file to which insured persons have recently been entitled. So far, few people are likely to use the new opportunities. A joint venture of the German health system is in charge: "Gematik has been commissioned by the state to set up the telematics infrastructure behind the patient record," explains Stefan Adolf in the ntv podcast "So techt Germany".

The foundations for this were laid many years ago and no longer meet today's standards. "We say: in principle you are implementing a patient share with technology that is over 15 years old," criticized Adolf. However, the system is in the Social Security Code. Changing it afterwards is not as easy as you might imagine.

Stefan Adolf and his team still want to try. In the new episode of "So techt Germany" he tells how they want to do this and what problems Germany will face with the digital vaccination certificate.
