A school in the Czech Republic has been closed for several days because of a poisonous spider. The head of the school in Mlada Boleslav announced on Thursday that a student was bitten by the arachnid in the toilet. The boy is fine.
According to the city administration, toxicological studies had shown that it was a tarantula. Spider experts are also of this opinion, it was said.
It was initially unclear who brought the crawler to elementary and middle school. Bites from most tarantulas are considered painful but usually harmless. However, in some cases a serious allergic reaction can occur. The school building is now to be completely disinfected to drive away the spider. Mlada Boleslav is located about 50 kilometers northeast of Prague. (SDA)
