Since the beginning of summer 2022, Niantic has implemented a brand new way to play on Pokémon GO that encourages trainers to walk daily for 15 minutes: daily incense. Each day you then receive a free Incense that you can activate to get pocket monsters for 15 minutes. It only works if you walk since Pokémon only appear if you have changed position after 30 seconds on average.
Capture rare Pokémon with Daily Incense!
On average, if you walk at a good pace and change location every 30 seconds (the best being to make a straight line), you can get around 25 Pokemon. Among them, it is possible to capture event Pokémon if you are in the middle of an event (for example Fashion Week at the moment), “normal” monsters but above all very rare Legendaries that are the Galarian Birds !
Their spawn rate is extremely low, but with a bit of luck, you might come across a Galar Moltres, Galar Electron or Galar Articuno. The problem ? Their catch chance rate is even lower: you have less than a 1% chance of capturing them. Many players have tried to increase this chance with Golden Framby Berries or by making Excellent Throws but this does not seem to work and the capture is confined to RNG.
Finally a technique to capture the legendary birds of Galar?
If you’ve encountered very few Galarian birds during your daily excursions this summer, you’ll probably be pleased to hear that a technique seems to work to dramatically increase the chance of their capture. Niantic may fix this in the coming days so be sure to give it a try soon! For my part, I haven’t been able to test it yet since I can’t come across these birds of misfortune but, on Twitter, many Internet users claim to have succeeded! What is this technique?
Without further ado, here is the technique that Internet users have been using for a few days already. It seems that a setting in the game grants more chance of capture for players who miss their throws many times in a row:
- If you come across Electrhor, Moltres or Articuno of Galar, don’t throw a Ball at him yet,
- Use a Silver Nanana Berry or a Golden Raspberry Berry,
- Choose the PokéBalls and throw about twenty of them into the void without touching the bird,
- The capture bonus will then activate and you will visibly have a better capture rate,
- Then use a Hyper Ball to further optimize the catch.
However, I warn you: this technique consumes a lot of Balls as you can see and is in no way official. I allow myself to write on this subject so that all together we can test this technique. Note that if you have less than 30 total Balls in your bag, you will receive 30 PokéBalls for free when activating Incense.
