Pokémon Go: an update on the Mega Evolution is coming

The Mega Evolution mechanic will be overhauled in Pokémon Go with the arrival of a special update. Here’s everything you need to know.

Niantic continues to update its mobile app over time. In addition to one Event calendar very busy, regular updates also add content to the game.

the official Pokemon Go Twitter account notified players of an upcoming Mega Evolution update to the game.

For now, this update is only available in Australia and New Zealand, but it will soon be available worldwide.

This next “mega update” should make it easier to access Mega Evolutions on Pokémon Go with some important changes. Here’s everything you need to know.

Updated Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Go

Introduced since the sixth generation, Mega Evolution is a higher stage of evolution that allows the Pokémon to temporarily change its form and obtain improved statistics.

Depending on the different games in the saga, there are several ways to Mega Evolve a Pokémon. In Pokémon Go, players must use Mega Energy to Mega Evolve a creature.

Niantic presented the future changes regarding the Mega-Evolution on Pokémon Go as follows:

  • Most Mega Raids will be more accessible. You will now be able to participate in a small committee!
  • You will be able to Mega Evolve your Pokémon from the Raid Setup and Battle Setup screens.
  • Pokémon that have already Mega Evolved will now have an additional visual effect added to their information page to commemorate this momentous achievement.
  • We’re going to add Mega Levels and change how Mega Energy is used.

Mega-Levels with increasingly important bonuses

As the Mega Level increases, better bonuses will be collected!

Pokémon Go will therefore introduce a Mega-Mastery system with Mega-Levels. This will consist of Mega Evolving a Pokémon so that its Mega Level increases.

Trainers will gain more bonuses each time a Pokémon’s Mega Level reaches a milestone, and these bonuses will remain active while your Pokémon is Mega Evolved.

The bonuses will vary depending on the Pokémon and the level of the Mega-Level. Niantic has unveiled a selection of bonuses to be collected soon:

Existing bonuses

  • Receive more Candy when catching a Pokémon of the same type as your Mega Evolved Pokémon.
  • Attack with a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in a Raid or Arena match and the attacks of other Trainers’ Pokémon participating in that same battle will deal more damage. If the attack used is of the same type as your Mega-Evolved Pokémon, the damage will be even more devastating.

New Bonuses

  • Increased the chance of gaining an XL Candy when catching a Pokémon of the same type as your Mega Evolved Pokémon.
  • Increased XP when catching a Pokémon of the same type as your Mega Evolved Pokémon.
  • A Pokémon’s rest time decreases as its Mega Level increases.

One Mega Energy at a time!

Players will be able to spend less Mega Energy after the update!

Another great novelty that will delight many players, there will no longer be a need to use a Mega Energy if the Pokémon has already Mega Evolved before:

  • A Mega Evolution exhausts your Pokémon. It will take time before it can Mega Evolve again. Once the rest time has elapsed, he will be able to Mega Evolve again without using Mega Energy.
  • You can use Mega Energy to shorten a Pokémon’s rest time. The Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve a Pokemon will decrease as the Pokemon’s rest time gets shorter
