Pokémon GO: GPS signal not found, how to fix it?

Lately on Pokémon GO, there seems to be an upsurge in the GPS error regardless of the quality of your phone or your internet connection. A problem that spoils the fun of the game, especially when you go to events like the Safari Zone in Seville or the GO Fest. Anyway, I too encounter this problem very regularly. At first I thought it was due to my newly acquired Xiaomi phone, but when I met many other players during the Championship in Frankfurt, they all told me they had the same problem.

The error obviously came from the large room in which we were, a little underground, where the network and the Wi-Fi went very badly. The concern being that even when leaving the building and returning to France, my GPS was doing its own thing. It was quite funny at first because my character then traveled for miles without me having to move from home (ideal for eggs!) but very frustrating when the famous red message “GPS signal not found” appeared every two minutes on my screen, preventing me from clicking on any creature.

The best solution to counter GPS not found in Pokémon GO

The only solution I found, after trying several, is this:

  • Keep your game open while the red error message is showing,
  • Drag down the top bar of your phone, with the various tabs inside,
  • Click on the airplane icon to switch to airplane mode,
  • Re-click immediately on it to deactivate it,
  • Your game will then have refreshed and should better capture the GPS

Other tips to improve the GPS of Pokémon GO

Of course, this technique goes hand in hand with other small settings to be made on your smartphone:

  1. Make sure your phone’s location is set to “high accuracy”. Whether you’re on iOS, Android (or whatever), this setting should be “Location”. All smartphones have a search function in the settings so do not hesitate to use it and type “location” to find it. Then look at the “location accuracy” and make sure it is always set to the maximum.
  2. Very often, the GPS error happens when you are indoors. Even if you have Wi-Fi, the game may not pick up properly and therefore display this error,
  3. If the error is still displayed outdoors, make sure your 3G/4G/5G is operational by going to watch a video on YouTube for example. Poor connection always influences Pokémon GO “gps not found”,
  4. Sometimes the error can come from Niantic’s servers, although this is rare,
  5. Other times, justwait a few minuteswhen launching the game, before the error disappears,
  6. It is also advisable to regularly empty your cache of Google positions.
