Pokémon GO: Players are asking to be able to trade remotely

The Pokémon license was created in 1996 and trainers around the world have always been able to trade with each other, either locally or through an internet connection. Pokemon GO did not escape this mechanism, since it is possible to exchange Pokémon with the people registered in our list of friends. Only here, unlike the games available on the various consoles, it is not possible to trade over long distances on this mobile version, causing serious problems for players.

In Pokémon GO, we can add people from all walks of life to our friends list, even those living several thousand kilometers from us. A mechanism that is interesting since it allows you to receive gifts from distant countries and to be able to raid remotely during events that sometimes do not take place in our region of the world.

However, a major issue has been raised by the community: that of exchanges. On Pokemon GO, the players must be in the same place to be able to exchange their small proteges. If they are at a distance of more than 100 meters each other, a message appears indicating that the user is not yet available for a trade and that this action is only possible with friends who are located nearby.

It means he is mandatory to travel to be able to get all the Pokémon in the Pokédex, or wait for someone around us who is playing the game to move to another continent. In effect, several small monsters are only available in certain regions of the world, for example Chartor, which can only be found in South Asia, or Tauros which only appears in North America. Other Pokémon are affected by this location restriction and are therefore inaccessible to many players.

While it is true that some people use cheat software to be geolocated in different areas of the world, it is something that we do not recommend here, since Niantic has a fairly strict policy on this subject and does not hesitate to ban all accounts suspected of using this method. Increasing the distance of exchanges would therefore be a very good way to fight against this cheat and allow everyone to complete their Pokédex.

It is however unlikely this feature will be removed soon, since the creators of the game have always defended the idea that Pokémon GO was made to bring people out, get them moving, and bring communities togethers. A speech which is also regularly held by Michael Steranka, the Product Director of Niantic. We can nevertheless hope that the request of thousands of players will one day be heard and taken into account. Case to follow.
