Pokémon GO + Tamagotchi: The new mobile creature game from Niantic

After Ingress, Pokémon GO, Harry Potter Wizards Unite and Pikmin Bloom, the studio specializing in mobile games and augmented reality, Niantic, has just unveiled its brand new project: Peridot. Adorable monsters to collect, colorful graphics, photos or even walks: we don’t change a winning recipe but we transform it.

Peridot: the new mobile game from Niantic

Peridot is a brand new mobile AR game that lets you care for, breed and breed unique adorable creatures. This is not Pokémon, Pikmin or any other known license, but rather a brand new franchise. To put it simply, much like you would take care of your petPeridot invites you to weave a true bond of friendship with one or more magical creatures in the game.

On the story side, the official site tells us that the Peridots are creatures that had been asleep for thousands of years and who woke up in a world, ours, completely different from what they were used to. As a player, we must then help them to preserve themselves from extinction. Much like a life-size tamagotchiyou can then take care of a baby Peridot and grow it to adulthood but also breed it to get new crosses.

According to the official siteon which you can pre-register, here are the few activities that it will be possible to carry out on your phone:

  • Look after and take care of his little magical creatures,
  • Walk around with it (in augmented reality or not),
  • Satisfy all their desires (by giving them the right food for example),
  • Find hidden treasures in the world,
  • Have fun, play, pet the creatures,
  • Explore cool new places (like Pokéstops on Pokémon GO),
  • Breeding to discover new species,
  • Find new Peridot as you go,
  • Take photos in augmented reality,
  • Share photos and other finds with friends.

Peridot release date: when can you play it?

Currently, Peridot is in the final development phase. That is to say, it is ready to be tested in beta in different countries of the world. As with Pokémon GO and Harry Potter Wizards Unite, it is therefore assumed that this summer players in Australia and New Zealand will be able to test this new mobile game. For France, we will probably have to wait a few more months.
