Pokémon Go trainers want weather effects

Niantic has disabled Pokémon Go’s weather effects system for nearly 6 months, an extended absence that isn’t to Trainers’ liking.

When it took its first steps into the video game landscape in 2016, Pokémon Go immediately won over the crowds. It must be said that this augmented reality mobile game had everything to please.

Even today the nugget of Niantic continues to enjoy an attractive popularity, but that does not mean that the game is flawless.

Currently, probably one of the game’s most notable issues is the lack of its weather effects system. Previously, in-game weather matched what players experienced in their surroundings.

The weather effects of Pokémon Go allowed the game to be in line with the current season.

Unfortunately lighting problems led to the removal “temporary” this feature of the game in December 2021, much to the chagrin of players who are still frustrated by its disappearance today.

An absence of weather effects on Pokémon Go which is far from unanimous

Last December, Niantic announced on Twitter that the feature had been “temporarily disabled”. The developers then assured that this would only impact the game visually.

Where the shoe pinches is that since then, it’s been radio silence. Nearly 6 months have passed with no new information coming to the surface, so gamers have taken to Reddit to express their displeasure.

Some trainers have commented that this makes the game significantly duller for those who play a lot. “It’s been almost six months, but I still miss it. The game looks boring when it’s constantly the same (apart from day and night)”said one of them.

Another player added that the system is also not able to provide correct weather internally, completely distorting the climate of entire regions.

“In-game weather has been random to me since it was implemented. The game says it’s raining when it’s sunny”pointed to a player.

While it doesn’t look like any new updates are planned for weather effects anytime soon, the issue is still listed as a known issue on the official site, so a fix might still be in the works. To be continued…
