Pokémon GO Worlds 2022: Interview with the French player Top 10 Dexxb

From August 18 to 21, 2022 took place the Pokemon World Championships on 5 different events that are the card game (JCC), the video game (VGC), Pokken Tournament DX, Pokémon Unite and Pokémon GO. Today, I would like to come back to the craze around Niantic’s mobile game and its PvP. I often express it in my articles but it must be admitted that PoGo still generates so much interest among gamers around the world and that’s probably thanks to its regular updates and events. After all, the Pokédex isn’t complete yet, and there’s still tons of stuff to do on the mobile app, festivals, and more Legendaries to capture. Especially since the competitive aspect of the title is still in its infancy and it seems to have a very bright future ahead of it.

Pokémon GO has a bright future on the competitive side?

While the content of the mobile game is certain to maintain a good player base for years to come, its PvP side was still a bit unclear to me until now. Thanks to Worlds 2022, I was able to understand and see how pleasant the competition was to follow, easy to understand on the different streams and ultimately not that difficult to access. Of course, as I said in my previous Rhobalas interview, just tapping his screen isn’t enough to win a Pokémon GO PvP match.

Just like Pokémon Unite, it was a great pleasure for me to discover the Pokémon GO competitive scene on such a scale. The atmosphere, the organization, the number of players and spectators, the stage and its decorations… This of course had nothing to do with my past experiences in Frankfurt and Lille this year.

Interview with DexxB: his journey and his opinion on the Pokémon GO PvP scene

At the World Championships in London, only one Frenchman managed to qualify for the competition and he even had a very good run since we find him in 10th position in the ranking! On site, I was able to ask him a few questions, understand his enthusiasm for PvP and his hopes for the future. Just like him, I’m hopeful that PvP will grow even more in the coming months. The official stream welcomed thousands of spectators and the public on site was literally in a trance during the Grand Final. Now, we have to show everyone who might be interested in PvP that the French community can accompany them to try the experience and, who knows, come to Worlds 2023 in Yokohama!

For his part, Nicolas, one of the active members of FrenchPvP, found that the event had generated a very good hype for Pokémon GO PvP even from a distance. With the replay in French on the stream of Formy78 the objective for them was to allow the French to follow the competition, to introduce it to as many people as possible. As IDexxBL says in the interview, the Pokémon GO community truly stands together and the whole nation was there to support it.

Overall, the players on site were at the top of their level and we felt that there was a lot of preparation behind, advanced strategies, perfect executions, very dynamic and even uncertain games until the end! The production and the location were obviously fantastic, a very nice setting for the game, which was well promoted. In short, a nice first step this year for PoGo to perhaps finally become a competitive esports scene.

And that’s all we want for this PvP community: to grow and attract more new players so that Worlds 2023 will be even more insane.

It was during the Opening Night Live of Gamescom 2022 that The Pokémon Company made a rather remarkable appearance by announcing an unexpected collaboration: a MINI car bearing the image of the world famous license! Discover the images of the small city car.
