The evolution is negative: its representation in Pokémon Go no longer looks like anything, with modified proportions and flat shapes. What happened ? The application received a major update which broke the entire design according to all accounts.
Ria is not the only one to complain about this change made by Niantic. On Reddit, several corroborating testimonies are shared. Some people laugh about it (“ My butt is gone and I can’t get it back “), others outright threaten to turn their backs on Pokémon Go. “ I’m seriously considering crying if they don’t go back. My heroine is so ugly now (…). I don’t even want to share a screenshot of her because it’s embarrassing », says Urppen.
Pokémon Go developers broke everything
Just look at some images of the new design of Pokémon Go to understand how wrong the developers were. In the eyes of fans, this is the worst update in the history of updates. “ You transformed our avatars into creepy androgynous silhouettes », summarizes Astro Bunny. This is how we find ourselves with female characters without hips and male characters with chests. As a bonus, the body seems elongated, with arms that are much too long and huge hands. In terms of realism, we are no longer there at all.
The anger of those who have invested hundreds and hundreds of hours in Pokémon Go, available since 2016, is perfectly legitimate. Niantic broke everything with this new feature which had a good intention: to modernize the game and offer other means of customization. In a tweet published on April 17, the studio was also delighted with this update. But, even looking at the official artwork, we can see that the design is a total failure. Niantic therefore did worse rather than better, even though it wanted to allow “ express yourself with even more possibilities “.
On paper, the new customization tool allows you to make your character even more unique by adjusting various parameters (weight, musculature, chest, eye color, skin, hairstyle, etc.). But the result really does not seem to live up to expectations. So much so that we sometimes fall into the grotesque.
On Reddit, The_Scrungler calls on the community to react by punishing Niantic. How ? “ If you hate your avatar, give a 1 star rating and stop spending money until a fix », he writes.
