Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Pokémon already banned from the game because they are considered too strong?

Pokemon Scarlet and Purple have introduced a new generation of Pokémon to the franchise’s already well-stocked world, and it looks like some of them are already being considered too strong to find their place in the competitive scene.

Smogon University has decided

The community of the Pokémon esports scene, dubbed Smogon University announced on Twitter its unanimous decision to ban certain Pokémon from competitive games. The first to receive the dreaded ban are Tomberro and Fleet Wick.

Fleet-Wick is a Pokemon Paradox exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet. This one has many strengths and very few weaknesses, which makes it a formidable and difficult opponent to fight. He notably benefits from rather high Speed statistics, and is above all very resistant thanks to his two types, Ghost and Fairy, which protect him from almost everything except for 2 types of attack.

Tomberro, meanwhile, is a type Pokémon Spectrum (and even Fantôchien for those close to you) endowed with a particularly powerful ability, Posthumous Tributepowerful enough in fact to earn him a competitive ban.

Indeed, this Specter-type attack will offer you a significant number of damage points (50), for the very modest sum of 10 PP, which is already pretty good, but the really problematic side of Tribute Posthume is that its base power increases by 50 for each KO Pokémon in the player’s team.

A chance for Tomberro

According to Smogon University, Tomberro could potentially end up in the lists of Pokémon available in competitive, it seems. Indeed, it is only his Posthumous Tribute attack that poses a problem for the esports community. All it would take is for at least one other Pokémon to possess this move for Smogon University to decide to simply banish that specific move rather than suppress the Pokémon.

Other Pokémon will probably join the ranks of the banned in competition. For the moment, you can consult more precisely the reasons which have encouraged to banish these Pokémon on the Smogon website.

With the ninth generation having landed on Pokémon Scarlet and Purple, it’s time to define which new pocket monsters deserve their place in the rankings. Is the list made up only of Legendaries or does it allow lambda creatures to go on the podium?
