This Friday, the previews of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were released on several media around the world. Despite some technical flaws, the open world of the game looks absolutely fantastic to explore and these 1h30 test allowed us to identify important information such as how shiny Pokémon appear on the screen. Without further ado, here are the 7 things to remember.
Trainers no longer jump on you
Some will like this change, others not at all. In the EV versions, the trainers you meet on the road will no longer automatically surprise you when you pass by.
- Positive : this does not stop you in your exploration and you can come and fight at any time during your progress to glean some XP points,
- Negative point : you risk missing trainers on the way or not even wanting to fight them anymore. However, an icon appears above their head if they want to fight.
Shiny Pokémon appear in the overworld
Just like on Pokémon Legends Arceus, the shiny (chromatic) can be spotted directly in the open world of Scarlet and Violet. So you don’t need to enter combat to realize this. That said, capture on the fly is not available in this opus and you will have to be careful not to send your companion with the “Forward” feature otherwise the latter could knock him out without you having time to capture him. .
It was Joe Merrick, from the Serebii.net site, who was able to come across the only shiny from the preview sessions in London. It was a Cabriolaine but unfortunately he could not take it on video in order to respect the embargo rules. However, he assures us that the shiny can be seen in the overworld. It looks like they even appear on the game’s minimap!
The freedom of multiplayer
Although the multiplayer mode does not allow you to progress through the story cooperatively, it does allow you to freely explore the open world of the host and do almost everything you can do in your own world. . You are therefore not obliged to remain in a group of 2,3 or 4 during the exploration and it is for example possible to launch Teracrystal Raids from a distance. If a player comes across a deposit (much like Sword and Shield), he can indeed invite other players to join him even if they are at the other end of the map.
In order to locate where the players are, you can use the mini map (or open it entirely). You can of course carry out your own battles and capture Pokémon: this will send pop-ups (notifications) to other players.
Customization galore
In addition to the avatar customization that offers a ton of hairstyles, colors and other face styles, EV also allows you to customize the picnic set that you will use very often to make sandwiches and wash your Pokémon. The sandwich are important because they grant shiny encounter or capture bonuses, for example.
It is also possible to modify the shell of his Motismart (the smartphone that gives you all the information).
long live teleportation
As we tested a build that allowed Pokémon to be at level 25 from the start and features that only unlocked later in the game, we don’t know if the teleport points are available from the beginning of the adventure or not. Be that as it may, the famous CS no longer exist (Surf, Flight etc.) and are replaced by the famous multi-terrain mounts Koraidon and Miraidon. And if exploring the open world on the back of legendary is too long for you, note that you can teleport to points of interest simply by opening the map: Pokémon center or cities in particular.
Experience gain and automatic combat
Again, the famous MultiExp (experience sharing across the team) cannot be disabled. In addition, the number of XP points you will get at the end of each battle will be exactly the same each time and will no longer depend on the level of your Pokémon. On the other hand, the fact of sending a Companion (En Avant) in automatic combat grants him less experience.
Beware of your Companion in automatic combat: even if he cannot be knocked out, he will refuse to fight if he only has 1 HP left. As said above, unfortunately it will not distinguish between normal and shiny Pokémon and therefore risks knocking it out.
Improved ergonomics
Scarlet and Violet retained some nice upgrades that Pokemon Legends Arceus took advantage of. We think in particular of the fact of being able to easily rename his Pokémon or manage his PC directly from the Rotomart menu. The best of course being to be able manage the abilities of his creatures directly from the bag. Regarding Teracrystalisation, on the other hand, you will have to go to the Pokémon Centers to recharge it (it empties after each use, so be careful).
