The year 2022 marks the beginning of a new generation of Pokémon thanks to Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Purple. After a Pokemon Legends Arceus which completely turned the formula upside down, the license returns with a more “canonical” opus which takes up the traditional codes of the saga, while mixing them with the know-how acquired in the last spin-off. Before seeing them again by the end of the year, we recap here everything we know about Pokemon Scarlet & Purple.
An open world full of promise
Even if we clearly resumed its already very limited engine, Pokemon Legends Arceus wasn’t a preview of the direction of the main series, then, as the classic workings return with arenas and opponent trainers waiting for you all over the wild. Besides, we also lose the construction in limited areas of the game of this beginning of the year since Pokemon Scarlet and Purple will be fine in the open world, and a real one this time.

What are the differences between the two versions?
The other point that we absolutely want to get across is that never have two versions been so different from each other. We are promised a specific plot depending on whether you take Scarlet and Purpleand it starts directly since the Pokémon Professor will not be the same depending on the game.
So in Pokemon Scarletyour mentor will be Olim and in Purpleit will be turum. We note the tribal style of one and the futuristic style of the other, which is also extended in the design of the legendary Pokémon of the two versions. Okay, Koraidon does not look very prehistoric with its kind of wheel in the middle of the torso but Miraidon still has reactors instead of hind legs. And we have also discovered three other species that will populate this new region which still has no name. So we can say hello to pohm, the new electric mouse that serves as the pseudo-Pikachu of this new generation. Who says Spain, says olive oil according to Game Freak who therefore offers us Olivini, a Grass/Normal-type Pokémon that attacks by secreting oil. And while waiting for a creature in the form of tapas or paella, we will therefore have to rely on the black pig which has quickly conquered the Internet, Gourmetwhich will be of type Normal.

A soundtrack like no other
Toby Foxthe creator ofUndertale and of Deltarune has already announced that he will continue to officiate as a composer for Game Freak and this time, he has even a greater workload since he passes from only one music of the post-game of Pokémon Sword and Shield to several themes on these versions.
His work can also be heard in the latest trailer since it is he who will take care of the main theme of exploration, in other words a very big piece for open world games.
