Pokémon Scarlet / Violet: an overview of Paldea for 14 minutes

Anxious to offer a renewed experience to its players without upsetting their habits too much, the Pokémon Company is taking the lead and showing very widely what will contain the imminent Pokemon Scarlet / Purple. In the shoes of a student at the Paldéa Pokémon Academy, the player will embark on a huge treasure hunt. Already presented, the main novelty in combat revolves around the teracrystallization mechanic, a transformation that accentuates the attacks of our companion, but which can also change its type. Here, we learn that wild Pokémon can be discovered directly in their teracrystallized form, and therefore can be captured as well. This special form will also be featured in online raids that will allow trainers to work together to try and capture rare Teracrystal Pokémon.

The adventure will take place this time, and for the first time in a canon episode of the series, in the open world of the Paldea region. As in Legends: Arceus, a derivative opus released at the start of the year, it will be possible to call on one of its Pokémon to interact with this world, as with the “Let’s Go” command which orders our leading sidekick to go and rub shoulders with a wild Pokémon. itself without triggering turn-based combat – enough to speed up exploration. In the same logic of playing comfort, Scarlet and Purplethis installment will add Technical Capsule (CT) machines that will allow trainers to craft CT from materials picked up in exploration or combat.

This long video of gameplay allows you to know a little more about the basics of Team Star, the spoilsports also already presented previously. Arriving at their destination, the player will have to quickly summon their Pokémon to fight those of the minions, before finding themselves facing Meloco’s tank. These fast fights will however not take place in the arenas, which will remain in turn-based duels as we have always seen in the series.

Finally, after Taupikeau (distant cousin of Water-type Taupiqueur), this time we discover Farigiraf, the evolution of Girafarig. Normal and Psychic type, his Armor Tail ability will allow him to prevent his opponents from using priority attacks. Other novelties will be on the menu of Pokemon Scarlet and Purple when they release on Switch on November 18.
