Pokemon still amazes with its live action series, the video

After a resounding revelation this summer 2023, the vast Pokémon project, PokeTsume, finally offers us a trailer which gives some new clues. A reassuring result?

After having had the right to a live-action Detective Pikachu film and various musical collaborations, Pokemon is now launching into the world of drama with PokeTsume. First announced last August, we can now take a look at what the series has in store for us through a very first trailer.

PokeTsume, when Pokemon mixes with drama

PokeTsume tells us the adventures of Madoka Akagi, freshly immersed in the tumult of a new job in Tokyo. One day, a package arrives at her house and brings with it her old Game Boy and her version of Pokémon Red. She then finds a lost link with the Pokemon universe. Nostalgia quickly invades her and she soon begins to draw parallels between the fictional world of the little monsters and her bustling daily life.

Thus, the series developed in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, dives into a drama that explores the lives of the characters as well as the influence of video games in their daily lives. Some protagonists also seem to be inspired by Pokemon from the initial games. For example, Yuki Kode is portrayed as a less than efficient employee, reminiscent of Magikarp from the game. And as Pokémon fans know, never underestimate an evolution from Magikarp to Gyarados. An element cleverly teased in the trailer, which you can watch below on the project’s official account:

Ultimately, we have no information regarding a possible translation of this Pokemon project. Or even distribution outside the borders of Japan. This is unfortunate, because this is precisely the type of content that could appeal to Western fans. Especially given the great popularity of Japanese and Korean dramas in our countries. In the comments, fans are already asking for subtitles to be able to understand the work. It remains to be seen whether their wishes will be granted.

What do you think of such a work? Is this something that might interest you, whether you’re a fan of the Pokemon universe or not?
