Pokémon unveils its 9th generation: games, starters, release…

This February 27, 2022, The Pokémon Company revealed the first pieces of the 9th generation including two games and three starters.

More than 26 years after the release of the first RPGs in the Pokémon series with Red and Green, the franchise continues to thrill millions of trainers with the announcement of two new games: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Purple. This announcement took place during Pokémon Presents on the occasion of the annual Pokémon Day.

We were treated to the first official information for the 9th generation but also some for Pokémon Legends: Arceus as well as Pokémon Sparkling Diamond & Sparkling Pearl.

Release date

Even though we don’t have a specific release date yet, it has still been announced that the games are expected to hit your Nintendo Switch screens at the end of year 2022.

You will therefore be able to find a new region filled with new Pokémon never seen before. It’s a good way for all trainers to (almost) start from scratch by discovering something totally new.

As the year progresses, we will of course keep you informed of new information about this new generation of Pokémon. Stay tuned to Dexerto so you don’t miss any of the latest information from Game Freak developers on upcoming Pokémon games!
