Poland ready to make its MIG-29 jets available to the United States

WARSAW (Reuters) – Poland said on Tuesday it was ready to station all of its MIG-29 fighter jets at Ramstein military air base in Germany for the use of the United States and called on other states NATO members with devices of this type do the same.

In a press release, the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that the Polish authorities were ready “to deploy immediately and free of charge all of their MIG-29 jets at Ramstein air base and place them at the disposal” of the American government.

At the same time, Warsaw has asked Washington to provide it with “used aircraft with similar operational capabilities”, indicating that it is ready to set “immediately the conditions for the purchase of these aircraft”.

Poland has provided Ukraine with defensive weapons but has in the past said it would not send its fighter jets to the country, saying it is external to the conflict between Kiev and Moscow.
