Polestar finally reconciles with Citroën and will land in France

The legal saga between Polestar and Citroën is finally coming to an end. The Swedish manufacturer Polestar will therefore finally have the right to market its electric cars in France. How long we’ve been waiting for!

Polestar, which became independent from Volvo in 2017, offers some really interesting electric cars. The Polestar 1, which is an absolutely stunning plug-in hybrid coupe, but also the Polestar 2, the manufacturer’s first 100% electric car. This is available in many European countries, but not in France. Well, that was before.

Polestar and Citroën reconcile

Indeed, according to The world, Polestar and Citroën (belonging to the Stellantis group) have finally buried the hatchet. Since 2020, Polestar is prohibited from selling its cars with the brand logo on French territory. It was indeed considered too close to those of Citroën and DS. The Sino-Swedish brand (owned by the Chinese giant Geely) had therefore made the decision to abandon the French market. A few weeks ago, the worst was expected, since Citroën had taken legal action against Polestar at European level this time around.

But more fear than harm in the end, because the two companies have reached an agreement, remained secret. We imagine that Polestar had to take out the checkbook and that Citroën had watered down its wine. A spokesperson for the French manufacturer clarified that “the complaints were withdrawn. The case is closed“.

Polestar website accessible again

Behind the scenes, we had suspected this turnaround for several days, since the Polestar site had been accessible from France and without a VPN since Monday August 29. Whereas it was previously necessary to use a VPN in order to access the brand’s site, blocked in France with the display of a warning message.

When will Polestar arrive in France?

Now all you have to do is wait until Polestar’s official announcement. For the moment, the French site is not yet online and it is therefore impossible to order an electric car of the brand from us. But it’s a safe bet that an announcement should arrive soon.

This news comes at the right time, since the next few years will be rich for Polestar in the electric car sector. Indeed, the Swedish manufacturer plans to market at least four new 100% electric vehicles: the Polestar 3 which is a large SUV, the Polestar 4 in the form of a coupé SUV, the Polestar 5, a luxurious and sporty sedan and finally the Polestar 6 , this sublime electric coupé.
