It’s done ! Polestar has just started marketing its first 100% electric SUV.

However, you will have to be patient before you can slip behind the wheel. We explain to you.

The Polestar 3 SUV arrives in China

Announced at the very beginning of summer 2021, then officially presented last October, the Polestar 3 SUV has just started its marketing. As a reminder, this is the very first SUV signed Polestar, developed from the SEA platform of the Chinese group Geely.

The latter is currently assembled in Chengdu (China) at the Volvo plant, but production in the United States (Ridgeville) is also planned. The good news of the day is the significant price reduction applied to this Polestar 3 SUV for its launch in China. The Tesla effect?

A significant price drop… thanks to Tesla?

Indeed, if it was once estimated at just under 130,000 dollars, the Polestar 3 SUV (in Long Range Dual Motor version) is finally offered from 101,000 dollars “only” in China. Ditto on the side of the Performance version, which was supposed to flirt with 150,000 dollars, and which is finally displayed from 115,000 dollars.

According to some analysts, this widespread price drop in China on the electric car market is to the credit of Tesla, which lowered its prices at the start of the year, before being quickly followed by other manufacturers.

Remember that the SUV is offered at “entry level” with a total power of 360 kW (about 490 hp), while the Performance version displays 380 kW of power, or 520 hp.

Autonomy is for its part stalled at just over 600 km, thanks to a 111 kWh battery. On the delivery side, however, you will have to be patient, since the precious SUV will not be delivered before the last quarter of 2023.

In Europe as in the United States, the Polestar 3 SUV should also be launched at the end of the year, with a starting price set at 83,000 dollars across the Atlantic, against 89,900 euros on the Old Continent. As is the case for the Polestar 2, this imposing electric SUV will be powered on board by Google’s OS, namely Android Automotive.
