In her last case, "Polizeiruf 110: Monstermutter", Olga Lenski has to investigate the death of a youth welfare officer. Is it worth?

How far does a mother go to get her child back? In the new "Police Call 110" (January 31, 8:15 pm, the first) from Brandenburg, the answer is: very far. "Monster Mother" is the last case with Chief Detective Olga Lenski (Maria Simon, 44, "Good Bye, Lenin!"), Who, together with her colleague Adam Raczek (Lucas Gregorowicz, 44), investigates the death of a youth welfare office worker. But what begins as a normal investigation takes an unforeseen turn and puts Lenski in a dangerous situation.

This is what "Polizeiruf 110: Monster Mother" is about

The chief inspector Olga Lenski has resigned, but only the head of the department Karol Pawlak (Robert Gonera, 51) told about it. She actually wanted to spend the rest of her vacation with her daughter – but nothing will come of it. A youth welfare worker is fatally injured in an assault and Lenski is ordered back. Adam Raczek is disappointed that Lenski has not told him about her plans. But he needs them just in case and has to swallow his anger.

They quickly find out the identity of the perpetrator: Louisa Bronski (Luzia Oppermann) was only released from two years' imprisonment on the day of the attack, is violent – and fleeting. A lead leads the investigators to the lawyer Veith Hannwacker (Rainer Strecker, 55), who visited Louisa in prison. Olga Lenski goes to see him to find out where the fugitive could be. When Lenski does not return from the survey and does not answer the phone, her colleagues worry. When Hannwacker is found in his law firm with a gunshot wound, it is clear: Olga Lenski is in danger …

Is it worth switching on?

Yes! If only because it's Maria Simon's farewell thriller. In "Monstermutter" she slips into the role of Chief Detective Olga Lenski for the 18th and last time. "I'll miss the figure of Olga", the actress confesses in an interview with Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). "Together with the editorial team, we have created a cool, far-sighted, smart, female commissioner and I am very grateful and proud for that."

And it is precisely this cool commissioner who is once again placed at the center of the story as a farewell. Deep dialogues are not served, instead the focus is on the protagonist's facial expressions and gestures. No problem for the actress: Maria Simon conveys desperation, the will to survive and fear with a single glance.

In "Monstermutter" the name says it all. The figure of Louisa impressively shows how far mother love can go. But also how a messed up childhood affects all of life. At this point, great praise also goes to Luzia Oppermann, who credibly embodies the role of the unpredictable fugitive and alternates impressively between vulnerability and aggression.

The case may drag on a bit in the end, but "in the showdown there will be a final decision," as the broadcaster predicts. The rbb did not want to reveal the specific end of "Monstermutter" in advance, which is why the audience can expect a big bang on Sunday evening.
