The police are happy after the first week of lockdown. With a few exceptions, the Burgenlanders adhere to the regulations and are also very cooperative with regard to controls. Since this is now the fourth lockdown, a lot is already routine – even at the borders.

Commuters from Hungary are already well prepared for the entry controls at the borders and show their certificates and proof of employment. “The processing is very quick and brisk,” explains police spokesman Helmut Marban. So far, there have hardly been any traffic jams. No shopping in Hungary “Lockdown refugees” who, for example, go to Hungary to shop have not caught any attention so far. Penalty is the last resort If there are reports, the facts are passed on to the health authority, which then decides on the amount of the penalty.
